How can I talk about Porto without expressing the eternal love I have for this city? I just can't. Porto was my fresh-start city, a really beautiful city that (still) has my heart.

If I decided to list all the beautiful places you can visit on Porto, this post would be really long. So, I decided that today I'm just going to write about a place that I personally love: the Observatory of Serra do Pilar (Monastery of Serra do Pilar, Vila Nova de Gaia). Yes, it's on the other side of the river but, in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful views that you can enjoy upon D. Luís I bridge and the riverside area of Porto.

In addition to offer a beautiful view of Cais da Ribeira and the city of Porto, it also offers a view of the wall that protected the city. As the historic center of Porto, since 1996, the monastery was considered an UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it's the only monastery of the Iberian Peninsula that has a circular cloister.

How to get there?
Largo de Aviz | Mosteiro da Serra do Pilar, Vila Nova de Gaia
GPS coordinates: 41° 8′ 18″ N, 8° 36′ 24″ W

TIP: Go down Serra do Pilar and cross the bridge on foot to enter the city. It's really amazing!
