'5 BEST CHRISTMAS CITIES, EUROPE'

by - dezembro 03, 2018

Christmas in Europe is synonym of traditional markets, ice skating, breathtaking decorations, fireworks... And these are only some of the enumerous things that you can find and enjoy in these 5 cities during this magical season.

London, United Kingdom
London is a Christmas wonderland, I swear. First of all, you have to visit Winter Wonderland. Then, you have Christmas activities in practically all tourist spots. You can see Hogwarts in the Snow in Warner Bros. Studio, you can experience Christmas as it was in Victorian times at Kensington Palace, you can glide around enumerous ice rinks in town (Natural History Museum, Skylight, Canary Wharf...), you can join the traditional Christmas carols at the historic St Paul's Cathedral, Trafalgar Square or Royal Albert Hall. I recommend you to explore London Christmas markets (Southbank Centre's Winter Market, Greenwich Market, Kingston Christmas Market...). Take some time to see the amazing Oxford Street, Regent Street and South Bank Christmas lights.

Prague, Czech Republic
In Prague the elegant old houses, palaces and towers, cobblestoned streets and baroque squares are lit with gas lamps to enchant its residents and visitors. Delight yourself with live nativity scenes, traditional folk crafts and colourfully decorated Christmas trees on Prague's most beautiful squares. You can get your Christmas shopping done while sipping a cup of mulled wine. In addition, you can attend concerts throughout this holiday season.

Viena, Áustria
Vienna is becoming more and more popular for trips during the Christmas season. Why? First of all, because Vienna's prettiest squares are transformed into magical Christmas markets. One of the most well-known Christmas markets is the traditional 'Vienna Magic of Advent', which turns the City Hall Square into a shining fairytale land. Drink Weihnachtspunsch (Christmas punch). If you don't want with alcohol, it's available in a non-alcoholic version, usually called Kinderpunsch. The residents love ice skating, so you can find ice rinks set up across the city during the winter months (including the gardens of the Wilhelminenberg Palace). Last but not least, listen to an advent concert (at St. Stephen's cathedral or at Minoritenkirche).

Copenhagen, Denmark
Copenhagen is a magical Christmas city, it's impossible not to get in the spirit. But, If you need to soak up the atmosphere, you need to go to a Christmas market (the Freetown Christiania Christmas market or the Christmas markets at Nyhavn Harbour, Kronborg Castle or/and Kongens Nytorv). You should visit Tivoli Gardens in the heart of Copenhagen, as the garden transforms into a white winter wonderland with all your heart desires. And this year, you can't miss the Copenhagen ZOO, because is lit by more than 200.000 Christmas lights.

Wroclaw, Poland
The magical Christmas atmosphere can be seen in all the streets of Wrocław, lit with decorations during the Christmas Market on the Wrocław Market Square. And it's in the market that all the magic happens: in Wroclaw it's just the main square that turns into a Winter wonderland and you can find everything you want without getting lost.

Now... Which city do you choose?
